RICHLAND
Our story began three generations ago with a vision from my grandparents; Francesco & Elisabetta Calabria in 1945.
In search for a better life, my great grandfather, Domenico, and grandfather Francesco boarded a ship named ‘Romello’ and set sail for Australia in search for a better life. They settled in the Riverina region and found work as farm hands. Once enough money was saved Francesco wrote to his wife to join him in the land he often referred to as the Richland.
My grandparent’s strong Italian family values are alive in the Calabria Family wine products, and my brothers and I are committed to producing outstanding wines and continuing traditions which my grandparents started over 65 years ago.
Richland series is devoted to the founders of Calabria Family Wines; Francesco and Elizabeth Calabria, pioneers of the rich land of the Riverina – now a wine region with unlimited potential. Within the Richland series we strive to capture the essence of the variety at an affordable price. The series includes traditional varieties and also wines made from interesting, newer varieties to Australia.
SAUVIGNON BLANC
GRAPE VARIETY. Sauvignon Blanc.
COLOUR. Light straw yellow with a green hue.
AROMA. Nose of gooseberry, lemon and passionfruit.
PALATE. The palate is fruity, full bodied with a rich texture and is true to the variety with fresh garden peas and tropical fruits, including passionfruit, limes and mango.
PINOT GRIGIO
GRAPE VARIETY. Pinot Grigio.
COLOUR. Pale straw in colour.
AROMA. Ascending flavours of pear & fresh apple puree entwined with kaffir lime leaf.
PALATE. The palate has scents of fresh bright red apple with sweet pear blossoms complete with a zingy acid drive and full flavoured finish.
CHARDONNAY
GRAPE VARIETY. Chardonnay.
COLOUR. Pale straw in colour witha green hue.
AROMA. Melons figs and nectarines are embraced by oak reminiscent of fresh baked crusty bread.
PALATE. Fresh palate of stone fruits, nectarine & peach with buttery ferment characters, creamy yeast and vanillin oak, finishing long, soft and well rounded.
MOSCATO
GRAPE VARIETY. Moscato.
COLOUR. Light yellow with a green hue and displays a pungent.
AROMA. Nose of rose petal and orange blossom.
PALATE. Palate has well balanced sweetness with grapey sweet fruit flavours of mangos and orange rind.
MOSCATO ROSA
GRAPE VARIETY. Moscato Rosa.
COLOUR. Bright rose pink colour.
AROMA. Aromatic and fresh fruit aromas with strawberry mask.
PALATE. Velvety and full fresh forest berries.
CABERNET SAUVIGNON
GRAPE VARIETY. Cabernet Sauvignon.
COLOUR. Deep ruby red.
AROMA. Attractive fruit driven red with a full bouquet of sweet berries.
PALATE. Ripe berries character flow smoothly into palate.
MERLOT
GRAPE VARIETY. Merlot.
COLOUR. Deep garnet with red hues.
AROMA. A soft, supple red with a fruit driven bouquet of ripe, cherry, plum and violet with cedar overtones.
PALATE. The flavoursome palate of plum and sweet fruit blend nicely with vanillin oak.
SHIRAZ
GRAPE VARIETY. Shiraz.
COLOUR. Brick red with crimson hues.
AROMA. The Richland Shiraz is a warm, rich approachable wine. Aromas of ripe berry fruit and smoky oak give way to a medium weight wine with a well rounded mid palate.
PALATE. Long soft oak tannins support varietal fruit and spicy black pepper flavours.
PINOT NOIR
GRAPE VARIETY. Pinot Noir.
COLOUR. This Pinot Noir has a vibrant density, with pale red hues.
AROMA. Delicate aromas of cherries, plums and spice, mocha oak.
PALATE. Smooth and soft palate with flavours of wild cherries and plums, supported by a subtle tannin structure.
